JEŠTĚD

Basic info

Ještěd is with its height 1012 metres the heighest moutain peak of the Ještědsko-Kozákovský ridge. It is situated in the north of the Czech Republic in town called Liberec.
On the top of the hill is also a Ještěd Tower where is a restaurant, hotel and the tower also serves as a transmission tower. This extraordinary monument was designed by Karel Hubáček and was built in 1963.

Why to go there

Not only you can spend the night there, you can also enjoy a romantic dinner above the clouds with a breathtaking view! Not enough?
Okay, there is also a ski resort in the winter, and rental of special enduro bikes and scooters designed for free riding in the summer - so if you like adrenaline sports, you can go down the hill on a scooter! And of coourse, a rent of a helmet is for free.
You can also climb the hill on your own from the very beginning or use an aerial cable car. The view from the top is amazing. If you are lucky and the weather is on your side, you can see the Giant Mountains, Prague, Polabí (the lowlands region in the Central Bohemian Region along the Elbe), the Iron Mountains (mountain range that is located in the north of the Bohemian-Moravian Highland) and if the weather is bad, you can still see at least Liberec and go inside to have a hot beverage.

When is the best time for visit

Climbing the mountain is easier in summer and you dont risk freezing to death on the top, but it has a certain charm even in winter. So it depends on your preferences.

Useful websites

If you are interested in staying in the hotel, the official site of the hotel and restaurant is here.
