LOW COST IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC

If you are a backpacker and you love to travel without spending a huge budget of money, this article has been written for you.

We will give you some information about dumster diving, cheap accomodation, low cost tips for travelling and eating and so so!

First of all, eating. It is a very important part of our lives and we both love to eat and taste new meals and flavours. So, if you are not a fan of traditional fast food restaurants, you can visit a farmers's market, where delicious fruit and vegetables are sold and for a good price!

Or you can visit some supermarkets and cook yourself a meal from low cost ingredients (potatoes, rice, seasonal fruit and vegetables) or if you would like to eat for free you have two options: get to know some locals and get invited to their place where they can cook you some local meals or you can try dumster diving. The disadvantage of option number two is visible on this map:

Yes, as you can see, dumster diving is popular only in Prague, so in case you want to visit other places and eat for free you have to make friends with locals.

Travelling, another item on the list. In the Czech Republic, unfortunately, hitch-hiking is not a common way of travelling. However, from my own experience I can say  that some people are kind and if you are patient you might get a lift!
If you prefer travelling on your own, you can borrow a bike (it's not for free, but it's cheap), a scooter or use your own feet. Public transport is also an option (more about buses and trains here).

Do you like meeting new people? And what about a couch? Do you have a positive relation to them? If you answered yes to all these questions its easy: try couchsurfing! (Official website)
If you have never heard of this type of accommodation before, let me explain: you want to visit for example Brno and you don't want to pay for a hotel, so you go on this page and find a perfect host for you. Staying with this person is for free and it's also an amazing opportunity to meet locals and learn more about country you are visiting! And don't worry, it's safe! Hosts are verified and you can read what other surfers say about them!

In some places you can also sleep under the stars. All you need is a sleeping bag. Bivouac is more or less tolerated, but making a fire in the middle of woods is strictly prohibited! Unless you find a place with fireplace.
If you prefer sleeping in a tent, you surely find a camp that will suite you. A list of camps is here. It's a shame the website is not in English, so all you have to do is click on the map and it will find you camps in this chosen region.

We hope these information will be useful and you use some of the options above!
Happy travelling!
