How to get to the Czech Republic

There are many possibilities how to get to our country. You can choose from airplanes, buses, trains, you can come in your car or you can even come on foot.

PLANES

Travelling by plane is the most comfortable and you can get to Prague Airport from almost every city in Europe. If you are travelling from another continent, you will probably need to use more than one plane.
Czech international airport is situated in the capital and is called Václav Havel Airport Prague (it used to be Ruzyně Airport, but after our first Czech president Václav Havel died, people wanted to honor him, so the airport was named after him). This airport serves as hub for not only Czech Airlines, but also for Travel Service, SmartWings, Ryanair and Wizz Air.
There are four terminals: Terminal 1 is used for flights OUTSIDE the Schengen Area andTerminal 2 for flights WITHIN the Schengen Area. Terminal 3 is for private and charter flights only and the last terminal, Terminal 4, is used for VIP and state visits.

TRAINS

Czech republic borders with 4 countries: Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Poland.
Let's start with Slovakia. Due to the fact that we used to be one country (Czechoslovakia), the transfer from Slovakia by bus or train is very easy.
From Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, leave trains every two hours and you can get to Brno, Prague or Pilsen or you can catch the train from Žilina and go to Ostrava or Prague and the last option is to go from Tatra Mountains either to Ostrava region or to Prague.
For more information visit the official website of CESKE DRAHY (www.cd.cz).
However, if you for some reason don't want to travel with CESKE DRAHY, you can travel with REGIO JET. It's a competitive company and has train stations for example in Banská Bystrica, Bratislava, Košice, Martin, Žilina and many others... more info on their website: regiojet.cz
